Dora Hospitality and The Louderback Group Selected to Develop Bloomington Convention Center Hotel

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana — Dora Hospitality and The Louderback Group are honored to announce that they have been selected by the Monroe County Capital Improvement Board to develop the new Bloomington Convention Center Hotel, a transformative project that will serve as the hospitality anchor for the city’s expanded convention center.

The planned development will include approximately 200 upscale guestrooms, a full-service restaurant, rooftop bar, meeting space, structured parking, wellness amenities, and pedestrian-oriented connections to the Bloomington Convention Center and B-Line Trail. Designed to complement the convention center expansion, the hotel will strengthen Bloomington’s position as a premier destination for meetings, conventions, tourism, and economic development.

“This is an incredible honor,” said Vincent Dora, President of Dora Hospitality. “Our family has spent more than six decades developing and operating hotels throughout Indiana, and we are excited to invest in Bloomington for the long term. This is not simply another hotel project—it is an investment in the future of the community.”

Russell Louderback, Founder of The Louderback Group, added, “Bloomington deserves a convention headquarters hotel that reflects the quality and character of the city. Our team has spent decades developing hotels across the country, including convention center headquarters hotels, and we look forward to delivering a project that the community can be proud of for generations.”

The development team combines national hospitality expertise with deep local experience. Dora Hospitality will own and operate the hotel long term, while The Louderback Group will lead development. Weddle Bros. Construction, currently constructing the Bloomington Convention Center expansion, will serve as general contractor. The design team is led by Luminaut Architecture alongside an experienced group of engineering and planning consultants.

The project represents an estimated investment of more than $70 million and is expected to create significant construction employment, permanent hospitality jobs, increased visitor spending, and long-term economic benefits for Bloomington and Monroe County.

Development activities will begin immediately following execution of the development agreement, with design refinement, permitting, and financing progressing toward construction. The hotel is planned to open in coordination with the expanded convention center, creating a seamless experience for visitors while supporting downtown businesses, Indiana University, and the broader Bloomington community.

“This project is about more than a hotel,” Louderback said. “It’s about creating a destination that welcomes visitors, supports local businesses, strengthens downtown, and serves as a lasting catalyst for economic growth.”
