About Us

Every family has a story, every business a humble beginning. Ours takes place in Vincennes, Indiana on the property of an old show horse stable. Robert E. Dora, being the visionary he was, saw past the surface and transformed the old building into the Covered Wagon Lodge, Dora Hospitality’s first property. Just six years later, he opened the first Holiday Inn in Terre Haute, Indiana. And from there, we just kept growing.

The Dora family has developed, opened, and managed more than 50 properties in the last 40 years. As a third-generation, family-owned management group (Robert E. Dora’s son, Robert W., is currently CEO and his son, Vincent, is president), we hold family values close and have maintained a Midwest mentality when it comes to hospitality—and to this day, it’s been the root of our growth.

We’re driven to maximize asset value for our clients throughout all stages of development. We believe details, no matter how seemingly small, are important, and pay close attention to the individual needs of each hotel, which is what makes us unique within our industry.
